In the garden…
The air was fat with humidity. You could feel it soak into your lungs with each breath and stick to your forehead like sweat. It was summer in Savannah and the closeness of the atmosphere pushed everyone together. It was if the air had collected us all together and wrung us out into one pile of family and friends, heaped in one joyous, laughing stockpot of good times. When the weather gives you lemons, you make a lemon aperitif, fan yourself, and get on with it.
Nestled under the crepe myrtles in the back garden of the Ships of the Sea Museum, Alice and Colin enjoyed a memorable Savannah experience. Just steps from downtown Savannah, but far removed from the tourist hustle and bustle. The couple’s family came down from Tennessee for the wedding, and many were not prepared for the wet blanket of air that welcomed them. But to say they rolled with it would be an understatement; they owned it. Celebrations and dancing carried on long into the night and everyone quickly forgot where they were and got lost in the moment. And the venue could not have been better suited for their sophisticated Southern style. In terms of location, charm, suitability, and function, it is hard to beat the Ships of the Sea Museum in downtown Savannah.
